  • Trace your memory back to design school. Remember how useful design critiques were? A semester of work culminating with a feedback session with a jury of peers and experts aimed solely at improving your ideas. Why is it that when we leave school we also leave this culture of critique behind?

Discussing projects before they are built is far more valuable than discussing finished work. Why? In-progress projects can be improved or optimized when shared with peers and experts. In March, we launched GIGA crit to create these discussions.

The formula is simple: designers present a project, system, or a building component in 15 minutes or less and open the floor for discussion and critique. The audience then acts as a consultant for 45 minutes to constructively debate and solve green design problems. In our Pilot event, Architect Scott Burroughs presented the Shangyu Winery and received incredible feedback to optimize the project's passive ventilation system.

Are you designing a project and want to leverage our community of experts for feedback? Let us know what you're designing and we'll put you on the waiting list to speak.

GIGA crit is held monthly on the 3rd Thursday of every month. Mark your calendars or sign up for our Newsletter for reminders. At present, GIGA crit is only held in Shanghai, though contact us if you'd be interested to host elsewhere.
