  • Partake in the draft of 2020VISION Green Building Challenge
(Please note that an RSVP is required for this session)

    Date: April 24th (Wednesday), 7:00PM

    Location: Shanghai

By now, most of us have heard of Central Government's green building targets: by 2020, 30% of new buildings must be green.

These targets only reference public and residential buildings and exclude projects and building types that have already adopted systems like LEED.

Although these targets are only mandatory for government-invested buildings, what will the impact be on the industry as a whole?  How will privately-invested building projects stay competitive?  At the very minimum, matching these green building targets will be crucial for everyone in order to remain relevant.

Even if only 50% of the new green target is met, the numbers will be staggering: 2.8 billion square meters of new green construction!

Over the next few years, China needs to be the source of more green design innovation than the world has ever seen.

Unprecedented in scale, most designers, manufacturers and developers are unable to imagine the challenges that this represents.

As an industry, we are completely unprepared for this transition.

GIGA and the AIA Shanghai have teamed up to create a challenge leading up to 2020. Focusing on the areas we will struggle with most, the challenge will serve to prepare us for this massive industry shift.

We invite you to partake in a special working session focused on the first draft of the 2020 Green Building Challenge and find out more about who has already joined. In this session, topics for 2013 Knowledge Sessions will also be defined.

This session has limited space, you must RSVP to join.
